These trips precede my obsession with recording my travels, so the narrative is from memory which may be unreliable.

A short trip round the south-west for a breath of fresh air.
Day 1 - Tuesday, 12 April
In the afternoon, I drove in a leisurely manner down to Wanlockhead and booked in to the youth
hostel for one night. The only other resident was a foreign cyclist, obviously a glutton for
punishment to include the highest village in Scotland in his itinerary. I spent the evening
wandering about the area.
Day 2 - Wednesday, 13 April I spent the morning at the Wanlockhead Mining Museum (including a trip down a lead mine) and wandering around the remains of the mining activity, then visited Clatteringshaws Loch before driving on to Minnigaff where I booked into the youth hostel for 2 nights.

Day 3 - Thursday, 14 April I drove to Glen Trool, parked the car and went for a walk up The Merrick. As usual, the weather deteriorated as I approached the summit, and improved again as I made my way down.
